Swivel seats can help with getting in and out of a vehicle. Some options come right out of the car and lift or lower to help the customer to their feet or into a wheelchair.

The safest way for an adult person to travel in any car is seated in a car seat wearing a seat belt. We strongly believe that the first rule of vehicle adaptation is to never compromise the level of safety.

After safety comes comfort. Where do you prefer to ride? Would you want to sit up front and be an active part either as a driver or a passenger or would you rather ride in the luggage compartment. We want our users to have both comfort and safety. That is why we invented the swivel seat, a product that has been continuously evolving to fit new models and set new industry standards for the last 20 years.

The following pages will introduce you to how a swivel seat can aid a person with reduced or limited mobility in getting seated. However in order to find the most suitable solution for you we encourage you to contact one of our authorised dealers for an assessment.

Would you be able to transfer from the wheelchair to the vehicle seat if the seat was partly outside the vehicle?

A couple of centimeters of the seat outside the vehicle is sometimes all it takes to help you sit down or make the transfer from wheelchair. Getting the seat outside the vehicle is something we can achieve with a swivel seat that rotates out of the vehicle.

This solution is called the Turnout and is available in several different models for both passengers and drivers.

… if the car seat was almost completely outside the vehicle?

Roughly 40 centimeters of the seat outside the vehicle can be of great help for you in order to sit down in or make the transfer from wheelchair. Getting the seat almost completely outside the vehicle is something we can achieve with a swivel seat that first rotates and then extends outside of the vehicle. This solution is called the Turny Low Vehicle.

Would you be able to transfer from the wheelchair to the vehicle seat if the entire seat was outside the vehicle?

Sometimes having the seat partly outside the vehicle is not enough. Maybe you would benefit from having the entire seat outside the vehicle and at your wheelchairs height. In order to achieve all this, the Turny seat lift swivels out and lowers down to your desired height. Getting seated is now only a matter of sitting down or making a completely unobstructed transfer from your wheelchair. When properly seated you press a button and the Turny lifts you comfortably into a safe position in the vehicle. The Turny is available in many different models for both passengers and drivers.

Another solution to enter the vehicle is to completely eliminate any lifting during the transfer. Simply let your wheelchair transform into the car seat. For this you need a little help from a caregiver and the Carony wheelchair system. Dock the Carony Wheelchair and slide the entire seat into a safe and comfortable position inside the car. Without ever having to leave the seat you are now able to enjoy the comfort and safety of riding up front.

The Carony Wheelchair acts and conforms to the same standards and regulations as any normal wheelchair and is available as both manual wheelchair with either 12” or 24” wheels or as a powered wheelchair with 12” wheels. The Carony system is compatible with both the Turnout and the Turny.

A caregiver swivels the seat out of the car and securely docks the Carony chassis.

The entire wheelchair seat, including the user, easily slides onto a base plate and becomes a part of the vehicle.

After swiveling the seat back in, the user is now seated in a safe and comfortable position.
